I am a researcher interested in dynamic self-organisation and collective behaviour in biological, artificial and social systems. I use theoretical and empirical approaches to better understand the low-level mechanisms and rules that govern self-organisation and complex collective dynamics.
The systems that I study range from swarms of active particles and colonies of microorganisms to animal groups and human societies. In my research, I employ a variety of interdisciplinary methods that often combine, in various ways, mathematical and statistical physics tools, computational individual-based modelling, machine vision technics and large data sets analyses.
